2025 Adult Summer Reading Program

The Adult Summer Reading Program is for adults who compete to read books for fun and win reading prizes from June 6-August 22.

Registration: June 6 – July 3

Two ways to participate: In person with paper log or online through Beanstack. The two programs are identical, it’s just that one is done with a paper log (in-person) and the other is completely online (Beanstack Program).

NEW FOR 2025!!!! Guess How Many Buttons in the Jar! During registration come to the Adult Reference Desk and make your guess! The closest guess wins a fabulous prize!

In person (paper log): Register in person, online (scroll to the very bottom of this page) , or by phone (248) 969-9490. If you register online or by phone you must come in to pick up your materials by July 3.

How it works: Upon registering, you will be given a reading log. You will keep track of the books you read beginning on the day you register. For every book that you read (or listen to) record in your reading log. It is your responsibility to keep track of your book titles.

Online (Beanstack Program): Register at http://miopl.beanstack.org or through the Beanstack Tracker app on your mobile device NOT on this page. You will log everything online through Beanstack.

All reading logs and online logs must be turned in at the Adult Reference Desk or entered online by August 22, 2025. All winners announced August 25!

Convinced you don’t have time to read?

Completing the Summer Reading Program is easier than you think!

• Listen to an audiobook to make doing chores more exciting.

• Download an e-book from Libby to your phone to take a break from scrolling social media.

• Count your time reading a sacred text during your daily spiritual or religious practice.

• Cope with your commute by escaping into an audiobook—listen to it while you drive!

• Create a cozy reading spot at home with your favorite décor, mood lighting, and accessories.

• Read in public! Visit a park, a local coffee shop, or a museum to read in the company of your community.

• Spend 10 minutes of your lunch break at work reading a nonfiction book.

• Always have a book with you! Pull out your phone to read an e-book while you’re in the waiting room or taking the NOTA or SMART BUS.

• Read some book reviews on sites like Amazon, Goodreads and Kirkus Reviews! You can count the time spent reading the reviews towards your summer reading goals while also building your list of books to check out.

• Invite a friend out for a blind reading date! Visit one of our city’s indie bookstores, buy each other a book, and spend some time reading together. If you don’t want to spend money visit the free Oxford Public Library!

Check out a cookbook and try new recipes in your weeknight dinners. The time you spend reading the recipes counts towards your summer reading goals!

• Read aloud to someone you love! If you’re a parent, reading bedtime stories to your child will count as minutes read for summer reading—and for BOTH of you! Organize a popcorn reading session with your family or friends to take turns reading aloud together.
