Teen Summer Reading Program 2015

Register from Friday June 5 to July 3

Sign up in person, online, or by phone, but you must visit the Teen Desk to pick up your Summer Reading Packet.

How to Earn Tickets to Spend in the Book Store:

Book Reviews: For every book you read this summer write a review, turn it in and receive 1 ticket.

Complete items on the Bingo Activity board:  Earn 1 ticket for completing each square and each Bingo line.

Programs: For each program you attend receive 1 ticket.

Please keep your tickets safe, as you will need to submit the actual tickets to buy prize books.

Teens who sign up IN PERSON at the library before 5 p.m. on Saturday June 6 will receive 5 bonus tickets to spend at the Prize Book Store and 5 bonus entries into the Grand Prize Drawing on August 5, when 5 random winners will receive gift cards.  

Every ticket you earn also gives you 1 entry into the Grand Prize Drawing, so the more you read and do things at the library this summer, the more books you can buy and the better chance you have of winning a gift card!

The last day to earn tickets is Saturday July 25

The Book store will be open July 27—August 1st

All Teen Programs are FREE!!


Friday Night Lock-In Event (Grades 6-12 only)

 **Registration and signed parent permission slip required**

 Book Heroes Extravaganza

 Friday July 17 6:00p.m.-9:00 p.m. (please note earlier end time)

 Book Character costumes encouraged. Indoor/outdoor games, M.U.T. Lab activities based on popular teen heroes like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter.


Teen Crafternoons

 No registration required. Just stop in and be a maker!

 Monday-Thursday 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.

 Friday and Saturday 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m.

 Howell Nature Center will visit OPL with hawks, falcons, owls, vultures, and a Bald Eagle! 

Kapow! Crafts (registration required)

Wed July 8 : 2:00p.m. -4:00 p.m. The PEEPSShow: Decorate PEEPS, make scenery & put on a show!

 Mon July 13: 2:00p.m. -3:00 p.m. Superhero Action Figure

 Wed July 22: 2:00p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Terrarium with a twist!: Create a Superhero Hideout or a Super Villain Lair

Interactive Movie Events (Registration required)

Fun in August! For Teens in grades 6-12

Bottle Mania (Registration required)

Monday August 10 2:00-3:30 p.m.

Make a mini lava lamp or a treasure bottle (bring some cool treasures you collected this summer—shells, rocks, etc.—to put inside).And if you have a container you wnat to use instead of a glass jar that we have, then please bring that too.

Mystery Lock-In (Registration and permission slip required)

Friday August 21 6:00-9:00 p.m. (Please Note earlier end time)

No hints. All we’re saying is it will be lots of fun!

Ace Ventura Pet Detective (PG-13)

Tuesday August 25 @ 6:30 p.m. (movie drop-in )
