Bitty Bops (babies from birth - 23 months, with an adult lap)
Enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays and rhymes with your baby. We want this to be a special time for you and your baby, so please make other arrangements for siblings.
Mondays, 11:00 a.m.  
Session 1: February 24 through March 17
Session 2: March 24 through May 5 (no class April 7 or 14)

 
Toddler Time (ages 24-35 months)
Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and activities with your toddler.  We want to make this a special time for you and your toddler, so please make other arrangements for siblings.
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m.
Session 1: February 25 through March 18
Session 2: March 25 through May 6 (no class April 8 or 15)


Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5 years) **New Day**
Listen to stories, sing songs, learn fingerplays & rhymes.  Children should be able to listen independently for this class.  This is a great introduction for children to being in a group and following directions.
Thursdays, 11:00 a.m.

Session 2: March 27 through May 8 (no class April 10 or 17)

After-School Adventures (grades K-2)
Listen to stories and be creative with arts, crafts and other activities.
Thursdays, 4:30 - 5: 15 p.m.

Session 2: March 27 through May 8 (no class April 10 or 17)

Lego® Club (grades 3-5)
Build amazing creations every week!  Each week you will have a different task to build something fun.
Mondays, 4:30 - 5:15 p.m.

Session 2: March 24 through May 5 (no class April 7 or 14)

Tuesday Tales (all ages, adult lap for children under 3)
Wear your PJs if you'd like and listen to stories, songs, rhymes and more!
Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m.

Drop-in, no registration required 

Wee Wednesdays (all ages, adult lap for children under 3)
Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and more in this storytime for all ages.

Chess Club (ages 7 and up, adults and teens welcome) 
Bring your own Chess set or use one of ours to play with other Chess enthusiasts.  Beginners are welcome.  Mr. Jeff Bliznik runs the club and offers lots of great tips and strategies so you can improve your Chess skills.  Meets in the Youth Area.
Thursdays, (first and third of each month), 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Reading Program: Fetch a Good Book (March - May, All Ages)
Every time you read a book, ask us for a dog sweater square.  You can write your name on it and add it to your favorite dog in the Youth Department.

Kelsey & Bailey: The Dancing Dog from America's Got Talent (All ages)
One of last year’s fan favorite acts from America’s Got Talent will visit OPL for a one-time event!  Kelsey and her dancing dog Bailey will perform their entertaining routine.  Kelsey will also share how she trained Bailey to be so light on his feet.

 March is 'Read to a Dog' Month (All ages)
Come to the library and read to a special therapy dog.  They don’t care how fast or how slowly you read; they are very patient listeners.  You can read one of your books or one of the library books.  The dogs like all kinds of stories.  Call the library or stop in to sign up for a 15 minute time slot.  [248-628-3034, ext. 216]

Science Saturdays (ages 6-11 with an adult)
The U of M Museum of Natural History will be bringing their Family Reading & Science Workshop series to OPL this winter.
Workshop 3: Present Day Predators and Prey:Maintaining the Balance
In the circle of life there is a delicate balance of predators and prey, each keeping the other in check. This workshop will explore how we monitor the health of those relationships and what we can do to maintain the balance.  You do not have to have attended the other workshops to sign up for this one.  They are all independent.

Spring Break Crafts (All ages)
Drop in anytime while on break and enjoy a variety of spring crafts to make and take home.

Firefighter Storytime (Ages 3-7)
Come to this exciting storytime with Firefighter Sarah from the Oxford Fire Department.  Enjoy stories, a demonstration about a firefighter’s uniform, and a fun craft.
Wednesday, April 16, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
(registration is required and begins March 31)

April is 'Poem in Your Pocket' Month (All ages)
April is Poetry Month!  Carry a poem in your pocket during the month of April, read it to a librarian in the Youth Department, and get entered into a raffle for a special poetry-themed prize.  Limit of one entry per day.  Drawing will be held on April 30.
